Welcome to Episode 163 of the Salsa Kings LIVE podcast

We have been featured as #1 in “Top 10 Salsa Podcasts” on FeedSpot.

Hey, familia! Welcome to Episode 163, “I Gave Up on Him.” This episode is close to my heart because it brings together a lot of things we’ve talked about in the past, especially about relationships.

Before we get into it, I want to tell you about the Miami Salsa Cruise. We have our biggest group ever joining us, and we’re super excited! The cruise is from late February to early March 2025, and we’ll visit amazing places like Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas.

There will be live salsa music every night, workshops with awesome instructors, and lots of fun. You can find all the details at miamisalsacruise.com, and if you use the code “salsa kings,” you can save $100 on your event ticket.

Key Points

Now, let’s talk about today’s episode. The main idea I want to share is about not giving up, especially in relationships, whether they’re romantic, friendships, or even on the dance floor.

If you’ve ever danced with me or watched our online videos, you know I always say, “Don’t stop your feet.” This means that even if there’s a misunderstanding or things aren’t going perfectly, you should keep going. Just like in relationships, dance can have its ups and downs, but if both people stay focused and remember why they’re there, they can find each other again, even after a mistake.

It’s important to remember that not everything will be perfect all the time. We often hear about “work-life balance,” but I think a better word is “harmony.”

In a band, different instruments play at different times and volumes, and together they create something beautiful. Relationships and dance are like that too—they’re about finding harmony. Time is also important. Just like a song changes over time, so do our experiences with others. Maybe the dance or relationship doesn’t start off great, but if we give it time, we might find something amazing by the end.

When we face challenges, whether in a relationship or while dancing, it’s important to stay focused and not let the little things bring us down. For example, if something goes wrong at the beginning of a song, don’t let that ruin the rest of it. Instead, try to find the positive and stay in the moment. If both people are focused on enjoying the music and the experience, they can inspire each other and have a great time.

I challenge you to be someone who doesn’t give up on others easily. Don’t try to impress everyone around you; instead, focus on how good you feel in the moment. When you feel good, you’ll inspire others to feel good too, and this creates a positive cycle. Remember, every challenge we face is an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and our partners. When we embrace these moments, we grow and find harmony in our relationships and our dancing.

Closing Thoughts

I want to remind you that the key to being a better dancer and a better person is to not give up on others. Keep finding the positive in every situation, and remember that balance is really about harmony. We learn a lot about ourselves and others when we stay present and keep going, even when things get tough. Don’t stop dancing, and don’t stop believing in the good in others.
