We have been featured as #1 in “Top 10 Salsa Podcasts” on FeedSpot.

Hi familia, it’s Andres. In this episode, I sat down with my good friend Galo Paredes Jr., also known as Mr. Pelo. We’ve known each other for years, but today was special. I got to hear his full salsa story from beginning to now. It’s a beautiful journey filled with surprises, love, and something he calls “a call from the universe.”

🌟 Key Points from the Episode

🌀 A Spark from The Secret

  • In 2007, Galo watched The Secret, a movie about the law of attraction.
  • He got really into it—reading books, trying techniques like affirmations and vision boards.
  • He tried to manifest things like a job or a car… sometimes it worked, sometimes not.

💃 Salsa Finds Him

  • In 2012, Galo’s niece came to visit and was bored.
  • He took her to a salsa class just to kill time… and something clicked.
  • He loved the class, picked it up fast, and came back the next week.
  • From that first class, he was hooked. He got obsessed—in a good way!

🏠 Classes at Home Begin

  • He started teaching in his house just to practice more.
  • First, it was one dance partner… then another… then more.
  • Within three months, he had 30 to 50 people every Sunday at his house!
  • He never planned to teach—it just happened. He was just sharing what he loved.

🎭 First Performance

  • A guy messaged him online and asked him to do a performance.
  • Galo said, “Sure, why not?”
  • They practiced for three months and performed in front of 300 people.
  • The DJ that night was Eddie, a mutual friend who introduced us later.

🏢 From Home to Studio

  • Eddie connected Galo with me. We met, vibed well, and set up his classes at my studio.
  • Galo expected the same crowd from his house… but over 100 people showed up!
  • Classes at the studio went strong for about two years.

💤 Burnout and Restart

  • After years of non-stop Sundays, Galo took a break.
  • He started again later at home, now donation-based and more relaxed.
  • Then we reconnected at Panera. I told him we were expanding Salsa Kings to Homestead.
  • Galo said, “Sure, why not?”—and the rest is history.

❤️ Salsa Changed His Life

Salsa even helped his sons. They taught at his class and ended up meeting their current partners there!

His passion brought people in. He gave without expecting anything back.

That energy attracted the right people and opportunities naturally.
