What’s up, familia? Thank you for tuning in to episode 176 of the podcast. A huge thank you to our sponsors: Rosenberg Law, Miami Salsa Cruise, and My Dance Shirts. Your support is amazing, and I appreciate everything you do for our Salsa Kings community. And thank you, listeners and viewers, for sticking with us!

Today, we’re diving into motivation. We’ll expand on what Pablo shared in episode 175 about “wagon pullers vs. wagon riders” and explore how motives impact relationships—both on and off the dance floor. Let’s get into it.

Key Points

    What is Motivation?

Motivation is about motives—why we do something. When it comes to relationships, dances, or connections, understanding why we’re entering them is key.

It could be to release stress, forget someone, or even remember someone special.

Your motive influences how the experience feels and unfolds.

    A Successful Relationship

    A successful relationship—just like a good dance—is sustainable.

Sustainability means both people want to continue the connection over time.

It must be mutually beneficial, where both sides give and receive.

The Trap of Taking Without Giving

Relationships fail when one person takes without contributing.

This can lead to blaming others when things don’t work, like saying, “They’re not at my level” or “I don’t like how they make me feel.”

Enter relationships or dances with a mindset to give, not just to take.

Giving Creates a Cycle of Energy

Giving doesn’t mean neglecting your own needs; it’s about starting with generosity.

When both people give, a beautiful cycle begins:

One gives when the other is down, and vice versa.

This creates something sustainable and uplifting for both.

What if the Other Person Doesn’t Give Back?

If you’re giving but the other person isn’t, it shows their current state or ability.

Don’t let it discourage you. Keep giving because it’s who you are, not because you expect something in return.

Acts of giving can be small but meaningful, like a hug, a phone call, or just listening.

    Motives on the Dance Floor

Your time and dances are limited. Be intentional about who you choose to connect with.

People notice how you dance, how open-hearted you are, and whether you’re there to contribute or just take.

When you give with genuine motives, others are more likely to reciprocate. This creates a cycle of joy that can last forever.

Closing Thoughts

Motivation is about your “why.” Whether it’s in dancing or relationships, start with genuine motives to give and create something mutually beneficial. When we give, we receive even more in return.

This process is free—it just takes music, an open heart, and care for those around you. Let’s keep building connections that are sustainable and full of joy.

Thank you so much, familia, for tuning in. Don’t forget to join us on the Miami Salsa Cruise, February 23rd to March 2nd. I love you all, and I can’t wait to dance with you again soon.
